Persef's Blog: Leaving on a Jet Plane

Headed home... I can say I didn't expect this kind of game. Yes, expected big things out of Sylvia Fowles, and she delivered. But like the UConn players said in the locker room afterwards, you wanted to see more out of them, and scratched your head as to why you didn't. They would've rather lost on a buzzer-beater than like this. I asked Coach Geno Auriemma about the mental toughness it takes to advance this time of year, and he talked about the job the coaching staff does starting early in the season. You do your best preparing players -- telling them that the lessons learned in October and November have to carry their way through the regular season and beyond.

If you want a silver lining, you can look to the fact that this team has no seniors -- no one is graduating, and the talent is coming back, with the addition of next year's class as well.

On a personal note, I can't wait to get back to my family. Every time I spoke to my little boy from the road, he'd ask me where I was and then would say, "why don't you come home?"

I'm on my way.

What are the lessons from the LSU game, and what does the loss mean for next year?

If Maya Moore is half the player she is touted as, whose playing time will she be taking by the end of the season?
